Member Mondays - Featuring: Justine McLaughlin!

Meet Justine “Juice” McLaughlin!

All things Cape Harmony!

Q: How did you hear about Cape Harmony?

A: “I heard about Cape Harmony from Anna Miller (Sarah’s older sister) who I went to high school with and was in the group from 2012 to 2013.”

Q: How would you describe managing a professional a cappella group?

A: “It's a job that has taught me a lot about not only working with others and group dynamic, but also a lot about myself. I think in a position like this, you have to be prepared to give constructive criticism, but you have to be more than open to receiving it, and I think and hope that it has made me into a person that can work well with others.”

Q: What is your favorite memory from CH 2016?

A: “Probably the Cape Harmony trip to New Jersey, and getting to go on an airplane with my best friends. It was very, very interesting...to say the least.”

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from Cape Harmony?

A: “Cape Harmony has taught me so much, but I think that the most important lesson I’ve taken away is to always keep what’s most important in sight, and don’t get overwhelmed with the small stuff. This group is the best example of something that comes and goes in the blink of an eye but can change your life forever.”

Q: How do you feel about finishing up your last summer in CH?

A: “Unwell. I feel unwell.”

More about Justine!

Q: What is your favorite condiment?

A: “See, this is a toughy because I want to say mayonnaise because that’s the true me, but I don’t want to be judged. But I guess I already said it, so…”

Q: What was your favorite school subject as a kid?

A: “If we’re thinking elementary school, I’m gonna go with…honestly it was lunch, but I think it was because I began a small trading business via my table. Always traded a fruit snack for a dunkaroo.”

Q: What grinds your gears?

A: “People that are rude to older people. I won’t stand for it.”

Q: What is your life goal?

A: “My goal in life is to somehow make an impact on the world by teaching kids to be good people with good hearts, because that’s what I think the future is.”

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?

A: “My guilty pleasure is just youtube as an entity, because it begins as an innocent search engine, and results in hours of me watching ‘Soldiers Coming Home,’ ‘Babies speaking for the First Time…’ really anything…it’s bad news bears when I’m on youtube.”

Q: What was your first AIM screen name?

A: “My AIM screen names changed about as often as the New England weather, but if I do recall, my first screen name was XOJussyFussyOX. It was lit.”

Q: What are your thoughts on the Bachelorette finale?

A: “Well, Jojo. That was one route you could have taken. Let’s hope it works out for ya (it won’t).”

Q: What is your biggest weakness?

A: “My flat feet. Those two have held me back from a lot in this life.”

Q: Who was your first celebrity crush?

A: “John Travolta, in Grease. Love that grease lightening.”

Q: If you were a salad dressing, what would you be?

A: “Honestly, I want to say ranch, which I know is pretty basic. However, ranch is extremely versatile, in that it can be a salad dressing, it can be a dipping sauce…it really holds a lot of possibility.”
