Meet Rachel “The Sandwiches” Rubin

All things Cape Harmony!

Q: What made you return to Cape Harmony for a second summer?

A: “I went into last summer expecting something amazing, and it was 10 times better than I thought it could be. I feel so lucky to be able to do it again.”

Q: How would you describe your transition into the CH music director?

A: “Being in a leadership role has definitely changed my perspective given the natural increase in responsibility and accountability, but it’s exciting to be able to approach Cape Harmony from a different point of view and set new goals for myself and the group."

Q: What are some of your goals for CH this summer?

A: “I just wanna keep our audiences happy, work hard, and have a great time.”

Q: What is your least favorite chore to do in the CH house?

A: “Probably fridge, even though most of the time it's fine. When there is something gross in the fridge… it’s gross. Last summer someone bought a cucumber and it was probably in there for a month. When I took it out, it was just a bag of greenish yellow liquid."

Q: What do you like to do on the Cape while you’re not music directing CH?

A: “When we have free time I like to go to the beach or go window shopping. There are so many cute boutiques on the Cape.”

More about Rachel!

Q: What animal do you think would be cutest if scaled down to a cat?

A: “A hippo.”

Q: Is there a weird food combination that you really enjoy?

A: “I really like to eat cheese and drink orange juice at the same time.”

Q: What phrase do you use way too often?

A: “‘You know what I mean?’ But it’s just because I speak mostly gibberish, so I ask the person I’m talking to if they know what I mean, even though I know probably they don’t. But it’s my fault, not theirs.”

Q: What mythical creature do you wish existed in real life?

A: “I wanna say a mermaid, but I think it would really freak me out to see that in real life.”

Q: Is there a movie that you could probably quote word for word?

A: “Honestly, no. I have a horrible memory for everything but music. People always try to quote movies at me and I never know what they’re talking about, even if I've seen it a million times.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant on The Cape?

A: “I’ve only ever gotten take-out there, but the crab rangoon from Golden Fountain is life-changing.”

Q: What was the last song you had stuck in your head?

A: “A commercial just came on that was playing a "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" from Cinderella."

Q: If you could create an app that could do anything, what would it do?

A: “It would be a cute dog finder, so that when I was walking around, I would know exactly where all for the cute dogs are so I could go pet them… after asking their owners, of course.”

Q: If you could come up with another name for a skunk, what would it be?

A: “I would call it a ‘lil’ stinker’.”

Q: What was the last thing you googled?

A: “How to spell ‘tambourine’.”
